Ritual Performance

Temple Temporale: A Pop-Up Sanctuary (2014)

Temple Temporale, a pop-up sanctuary, opened within the Mission for Temporal Art on September 8th, 2014. The Temple space was activated in ritual and public observance of the Autumnal Equinox on Monday the 22nd of September 2014. In preparation The MTA was opened to the public daily 1:00 to 6:00 PM from Sept 8 through the 22nd, as artist Lynn Nesseth installed an esoteric signature, or sigil, on the sanctuary floor. The Aquarian-age style amalgamation of overlain cosmological maps housed elemental, zodiacal, and planetary shrines. The MTA invited offerings of semi-precious stones, incense, candles, charms and tokens from friends, artists and the greater community leading up to the ritual date. Opened to the public ritual activity on the Equinox began at 7:30pm and continued until the point of Equinox at 10:30pm. A ritual performance took place at 9pm. The ritual was enacted as a work of Art and Majick. The space was energetically cleared of its past incarnations, activated and appropriated as a magnetic center for artists of the new genres. The resulting installation remained open for public viewing through Sunday Sept 28th. The MTA was co-founded by artists David Linton and Claire Elizabeth Barratt. Performers and Collaborators: M. HoneyBee Mckee; on priestess, Vincent Wrenn; on planets, Alyssa Keiffer; on whips, Bryan DeCaterina; on snaps, Dave German; on faeries, Josh Charm; on time, Summer Christine; on cards, Shanda Panda; on flute and drums, Daniel Simmons; on crystals.
